Shu Cosmetic: Leading Provider of Laser Liposuction Minneapolis

Minneapolis Laser Lipo is offered here in our comfortable office at Shu Cosmetic Surgery. This unique and innovative technology allows Dr. Shu to melt away fat and tighten the skin of a patient. Laser Lipo is ideal for small parts of a patient’s body. It’s great for taking away fat and tightening the skin on the chin and underneath the arms.

Unlike other forms of liposuction, the fat cannot be transferred to other parts of the body. The laser actually melts away the fat beneath the skin. As with all medical procedures, laser lipo is not without some risks. Although the risks are minimal, there is a small chance of burning.

Dr. Shu has performed many laser lipo procedures and patients are in good hands at Shu Cosmetic Surgery. When searching for a provider of Laser Liposuction Minneapolis, Shu Cosmetic Surgery is the ideal place to have this procedure performed. Dr. Shu can help you achieve the look you are wanting. Beyond just melting fat, the laser lipo procedure can help to contour, tone and tighten. This procedure is minimally invasive and allows that patient to get back to work and other daily activities quickly.

Dr. Shu can discuss your treatment options with you during a consult. In some cases, combining laser lipo with other procedures such as Body-jet liposuction, allows the patient to achieve skin tightening and other desired results. Laser lipo may also be referred to as laser lipolysis and can allow a patient to achieve the desired results of melted body fat within our office in a very short amount of time. If you are experiencing stubborn felt that simply does not go away no matter how much you seem to workout or change your diet, laser lipo may give you the desired results that you are seeking.

Shu Cosmetic Surgery of Minneapolis Offers Complimentary VISIA Skin Complexion Analysis

Starting this month, Shu Cosmetic Surgery, the premiere Cosmetic Surgeon for Laser Liposuction of Minneapolis, will be offering complimentary VISIA complexion analyses for facial rejuvenation and skin care.

Edina, MN (August 2012) – True to its commitment to providing state-of-the-art cosmetic treatments, Shu Cosmetic Surgery Institute who is know for Liposuction procedures in Minneapolis, became the first cosmetic clinic to offer skin complexion analysis with the newest (6th) generation VISIA, a method of facial rejuvenation planning tailored to a patient’s complexion profile. Starting this month, patients will receive an initial VISIA analysis report as their baseline and additional complimentary reports throughout their treatment programs.

VISIA imaging and analysis provides you and your skin care professional with the comprehensive data needed for a solid rejuvenation plan to tackle your complexion requirements or problems. An invaluable aid in monitoring your complexion’s vitality, VISIA checks the overall effectiveness of your skin care regimen over time and helps create and execute goals for your skin.

“This analysis should be the first step in achieving optimal skin renewal and is truly the individualized care needed to maintain your complexion’s most radiant health,” said clinic esthetician Sonya Stelmachuk.

VISIA analysis works by using a multi-spectral imaging and analysis to capture key visual information on eight areas affecting complexion health and appearance: spots, wrinkles, color variation in the skin tone, pores, sun damage, subsurface pigmentation, vascular conditions, and porphyrins (evidence of bacteria in pores). Your characteristics are then compared to others of your same age and skin type.

“We use this comprehensive information to plan the most optimal treatments and regimens for you, and you will receive a summary report providing a clear overview of your facial skin condition with our recommendations,” said Katie McClellan, PA-C.

Dr. Shu, the First Doctor in Minnesota to Perform IDEAL breast lift™ and IDEAL Breast Lift with Augmentation™

Dr. Shu recently trained under board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Ted Eisenberg, to perform the newest techniques for mastopexy (breast lift) and breast lift with augmentation.  He is the first cosmetic surgeon in Minnesota performing these advanced techniques.

Edina MN (June 2012) – IDEAL breast lift™ and IDEAL breast lift with augmentation™ are new procedure techniques that maximizes the lift and minimizes the scar.  Both surgeries are performed as an outpatient procedure and are done under the IV sedation with local anesthetic.

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that raises and reshapes breasts that have sagged from pregnancy, from significant weight changes, or from the natural process of aging. The breast lift restores the breast to a more youthful look by repositioning the nipple at a higher position and removing excess skin which creates a natural sling or new bra to support the breasts. During the lift, Dr. Shu will sew the nipple and central portion of areola higher, and bring the tissues together.  The nipple is not removed and breast tissue is not touched; only the skin is removed.

So who is the best candidate for the IDEAL breast lift™? It is for any women with sagging breasts that don’t like the feeling of their breasts pulling forward and laying heavily on their stomachs and even the best bras do not give them the support they need”, stated Dr. Steven Shu. Another way to determine if an individual is a candidate for a breast lift would be to look in the mirror and see if the position of the nipple (not the areola, the darkened circular area around the nipple) is above, at, or below the crease beneath your breast. If the nipple is below the crease, a lift will definitely restore the breast to a more youthful shape.  If the nipple sits at the crease, it is a borderline situation and Dr. Shu’s expertise will determine whether a breast lift, a breast augmentation, or both are needed.

“If you are satisfied with the size of your breasts when they are lifted by your bra, then a breast lift alone may be the right procedure for you. If you want more breast volume, then you are probably a candidate for the combination procedure of a breast lift with augmentation”, explain Dr. Steven Shu. A Breast lift with augmentation is a common procedure for women, because breast implants alone will not lift the breasts. During surgery, the breast augmentation will be done first followed by the breast lift and removal of excess skin, so the end product will be lifted, firmer, and larger size breasts.

Some things to consider before deciding to have a breast lift are there may be a scar from the incision that goes around the nipple, extends from the nipple down to the breast fold then across the breast fold itself.  For some women the incision will heal to a thin line; for others it may be thicker.  Sometimes the breast assumes a boxy shape below the nipple where the skin was tightened. Lastly, mastopexy or a breast lift may not be permanent if your skin tone is poor before the surgery. The breasts might sag again to some extent, but not nearly to the point at which they were before surgery. A second operation might be required to retighten the skin of the breast in the future.

After either the IDEAL breast lift or breast lift with augmentation surgeries, patients have had minimal discomfort. Stitches are dissolvable and don’t need to be removed.  More than 90% of breast surgery patients are back to work on the fifth day, if they work in an office setting. Patients can generally return to aerobics in two to three weeks and upper body weightlifting in six weeks.

Shu Cosmetic Surgery Medspa Announces a Non-surgical Lifetime Facelift

Shu Cosmetic Surgery Medspa has established an affordable non-surgical laser package for those wanting a tighter and lifted face and or neck, without the surgery downtime. This is a preventative treatment to help those who are starting to see sagging skin or for those whom surgery is not an option.

Edina, MN (May 2012) – Broad Band Light (BBL) offers the most advanced IPL (intense pulsed light) technology. BBL SkinTyte™ is a module using infrared light energy to deeply heat dermal collagen leading to a renewed collagen foundation for skin firming. Over the next few months, those receiving the treatment will see a tighter and uplifted appearance along with a younger fresher look to the skin from the stimulation of collagen.

Shu Cosmetic Surgery Institute Medpsa offers the ‘Lifetime Facelift’ in two types of laser packages; one package being a short term program consisting of 5 treatments every 4 weeks apart and the other being a lifetime (or yearly) program having a treatment every month. Both programs are can be executed in conjunction with chemical peels, microdermabrasion, additional laser treatments, and at home medical grade skincare products to achieve more dramatic and long-term results.

“One special advantage of the BBL SkinTyte™ laser treatments are that the treatments are done using non-ablative laser, so there is no peeling of the top layer of skin and has a lower risk of pigmentation changes. Since this procedure is non-invasive (no cutting) there is no need to take time off work,” said Katie, PA-C and medspa director.

For most patients there is no downtime at all and pain management is hardly an issue.  It is possible a few people may have excessive swelling and or redness immediately following the treatment. More serious complications could include bumps, skin burn, blistering, permanent pigmentation changes, or skin depressions, although these are very rare.

Another advantage to the ‘Lifetime Facelift’ is the cost is considerably less than a surgical facelift, which is especially nice for younger patients who may not need a surgical facelift yet, or for those that want to prevent or prolong a surgical facelift in the future. It also works great for those who don’t want to consider a surgical facelift at all. Best candidates for skin-tightening laser procedures are for those who don’t quite need a surgical facelift yet or if the skin is just mildly sagging.

It is important to have realistic expectation when considering the ‘Lifetime Facelift’ in that this procedure is not meant to deliver the same results as a surgical face lift because there is no cutting of excess skin, but instead, it is firming the skin already there. It is not possible to erase 10-15 years with a non-invasive laser for tissue tightening. Results can vary from patient to patient due to differences in skin thickness, texture, healing response, and lifestyle variables. Dermal collagen remodeling takes place over time, so the final tightening and lifting result will be seen six months following your final session; however patients may be able to see some immediate results, with improvements continuing for up to six months following the procedure!

Laser Liposuction – The Latest in Fat-Removal Technologies

Laser liposuction, also referred to as laser-assisted lipolysis, is the latest in fat removal surgeries. New technologies are making these types of procedures easier, safer and more effective with each passing year, and laser liposuction is the next evolution in that design. This technique can be used almost anywhere on the body, from the thighs all the way up to the face. Since it is a new procedure, however, it is best to know a little about it before making the decision to have it done.

What makes this technique different is that it uses a laser to target and liquefy the deposits of fat which are to be removed. This makes it easier to remove the fat as well as being less invasive than other surgeries. After the fat is broken down, it is pulled from the body via a standard liposuction vacuum process. All this can be done in the comfort of an office using a local anesthetic. A session of laser liposuction usually takes from 30 to 45 minutes.

Using a laser for this process has several advantages over traditional liposuction techniques. Since it only uses very tiny incision, there is a minimum of bruising and bleeding. This also means a quicker recovery time. Most that have this procedure are ready to go back to their normal schedule the next day. No need for a general anesthetic means less potential complications in that regard.

Laser liposuction has also been shown to have other benefits. The laser creates a tightening of the skin in addition to the fat removal. It also helps to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin; two components of skin which help promote firmer, smoother skin with more elasticity. The overall effect is less fat combined with a smoother and more naturally contoured body.

Despite all the benefits, laser liposuction does have some disadvantages. It is more expensive than traditional methods, for one. Also, since it is a relatively new technology, there are risks of burns from unskilled operators. Some health conditions, such as skin, blood, heart, liver or kidney problems, may prevent one from being able to have this procedure done.

Many doctors are still wary of performing laser liposuction on their patients due to its newness. This means that finding an experienced laser operator is of utmost importance when looking at this procedure as an option. Like all fat-removal techniques, having laser liposuction will not keep weight off permanently. It is up to the patient to maintain their new, healthier weight and prevent the fat from returning.

Body Contouring Services

We live in a society that idealizes the perfect body. That is one of the main reasons that so many people today feel self-conscious. Fortunately, there are a number of body contouring procedures that can help people feel better about the way that they look. Below are some of those procedures:

Liposuction

Liposuction is a procedure that removes excess fat and skin from the stomach, thighs, arms, legs and buttocks. Today, there are several different forms of liposuction available including: laser, body-jet and vaser. Those procedures are minimally invasive and give people the fast results that they are looking for.

Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck is a procedure that tightens the stomach by removing excess fat and skin. This procedure is very popular among women who have delivered children. It is also a popular choice for people who have had trouble losing weight in their abdominal area.

Mini Tummy Tuck

A Mini Tummy Tuck is where fat and skin is removed from the lower abdomen. It is a popular choice for those who are generally happy with their body, but have a little pudge that they would like to get rid of.

Lipoabdominoplasty

A lipoabdominoplasty is a procedure that combines liposuction and a tummy tuck. Surgeons prefer this procedure because it allows people to have a faster recovery time and the risk of complications is much lower.

Smooth Shaper

Smooth Shaper is a procedure that helps remove cellulite. Cellulite is a problem that most women suffer from. Smooth shaper uses laser and light technology to liquefy the fat underneath the skin.

Laser stretch mark removal

Laser stretch mark removal is a procedure that uses laser technology to break up stretch marks. When a stretch mark is broken apart, new skin begins to grow in its place.

The perfect body does not exist. However, liposuction, a tummy tuck, mini tummy tuck, lipoabdominoplasty, Smooth shaper and laser stretch mark removal can help people feel more confident about their bodies.
